    Chibuzo Nelson Azubuike Ezege, widely recognized by his stage name Phyno, is a prominent Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter, and music producer, born on October 9, 1986.

    Although Phyno hails from Anambra State, he was born and brought up in Enugu State. He began his journey in the music industry as a producer in 2003 and gained fame for his rapping in the Igbo language.

    His debut studio album, No Guts No Glory, released in March 2014, featured hit singles such as โ€œGhost Mode,โ€ โ€œMan of the Year,โ€ โ€œParcel,โ€ and โ€œO Set.โ€

    Born and raised in Enugu State, Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, also known by his stage name Phyno, hails from Anambra State, part of Nigeriaโ€™s Igbo tribe. The nickname โ€œPhynoโ€ was derived from โ€œphenomenal,โ€ a term a secondary school friend gave him.

    During his school years, Phyno developed a passion for music production, even though he initially aspired to be a pilot or a doctor.

    He learned to play the drums and piano, and often recreated tracks he heard. Phyno later studied public administration at the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu, and by his second year, he began earning from his musical talents.

    In an interview with Ifeoma Onoye, Phyno mentioned that he looks up to Mr. Raw as a mentor. Phyno began his rapping career in 2010 and soon after moved to Lagos State to advance his music career.

    Phyno commenced recording his debut studio album No Guts No Glory in 2012. The album includes collaborations with artists like Stormrex, Omawumi, Olamide, Efa, P-Square, Timaya, Flavour Nโ€™abania, Mr. Raw, M.I, Ice Prince, and Runtown.

    The album, predominantly performed in Igbo and Nigerian Pidgin, was led by the single โ€œGhost Mode,โ€ featuring Olamide, released on September 25, 2012. The track won Best Collabo at both The Headies 2012 and the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

    The accompanying music video, directed by Clarence Peters, was released on December 7, 2012. โ€œMan of the Year (Obago),โ€ the albumโ€™s second single, dropped on March 23, 2013, and went on to win Best Rap Single at the 2013 Headies Awards.

    In June 2013, Phyno performed for 25 minutes in Owerri as part of the Star Music Trek tour. As a supporting act on the 2013 Hennessy Artistry Club Tour, he toured with artists such as Dโ€™banj, Burna Boy, Chidinma, Vector, Pucado, Seyi Shay, Show Dem Camp, Kay Switch, and Sean Tizzle.

    The music video for โ€œMan of the Year (Obago)โ€ was released on August 20, 2013, featuring a cameo from Illbliss. However, the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation banned it from airing on television. โ€œParcel,โ€ the albumโ€™s third single, was released on October 11, 2013, with its music video, also directed by Peters, debuting on February 19, 2014.

    โ€œO Set,โ€ featuring P-Square, was released as the fourth single on March 4, 2014, with its music video directed by Jude Engees Okoye.

    On May 22, 2014, Phyno released the Clarence Peters-directed music video for โ€œAlobam,โ€ a song produced by Major Bangz, which is an Igbo slang term for โ€œMy Guy.โ€ The video for โ€œAuthe (Authentic),โ€ Phynoโ€™s collaboration with Flavour, was released on September 2, 2014.

    Phynoโ€™s track โ€œYayo,โ€ produced by Major Bangz, dropped on October 7, 2014, and premiered on the Pulse Music Video charts at number 8. Phyno also performed at the 2014 Star Music Trek tour in Nsukka, Enugu State.

    The music video for โ€œYayo,โ€ directed by Peters, was released on January 5, 2015, and received an 8 out of 10 rating from Opeoluwani Akintayo of The Daily Times of Nigeria, who praised its use of props.

    Phyno and Olamide released their collaborative album 2 Kings on April 1, 2015, after announcing it on social media. In March 2019, Phyno revealed plans to release his third studio album, Deal With It, which features singles like โ€œAguโ€ and โ€œThe Bag,โ€ along with guest appearances from Olamide, Falz, Davido, Don Jazzy, Zoro, Runtown, and Teni. In July 2021, Phyno dropped the single โ€œBia.โ€
